The Pet Shop Boys are an English electronic dance music duo, consisting of Neil Tennant, who provides main vocals, keyboards and occasional guitar, and Chris Lowe on keyboards. One of the world's best-selling music artists,

Pet Shop Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide, and are listed as the most successful duo in UK music history by The Guinness Book of Records.

Three-time Brit Award winners and six-time Grammy nominees, since 1986 they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles and 22 Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart, including four number ones: "West End Girls", "It's a Sin", "Always on My Mind" and "Heart". At the 2009 BRIT Awards, Pet Shop Boys received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
The band's eleventh studio album, titled Elysium (continuing their tradition of single word titles), was released in September 2012, the first single of which, titled "Winner", was released on 2 July 2012.

In March 2013, the Pet Shop Boys started a new chapter in their career when they left their long-term label, Parlophone, and signed with Kobalt Label Services.

A new album, Electric, was released in July 2013, reaching number 3 in the UK and number 26 in the United States, their highest-peaking album for nearly 20 years in both countries.

The singles from this album were "Axis", "Vocal", "Love is a Bourgeois Construct", "Thursday" (featuring Example) and "Fluorescent".
The duo undertook a worldwide tour to support the album.

In November 2014, they returned to the studio to begin working on their next album. With Stuart Price returning as producer, Super was announced on 21 January 2016 for release on 1 April. "Inner Sanctum" was released as a teaser track. The first single proper is "The Pop Kids", released on 26 February.

On 21 January 2016, the Pet Shop Boys announced that their thirteenth album, Super, would be released on 1 April.[60] The announcement was accompanied by the release of an album teaser track, "Inner Sanctum".

The lead single from the new album, entitled "The Pop Kids", was released on 18 March 2016.[61] "The Pop Kids" was the duo's eleventh number one on the US Dance Club Songs chart.[62] In July 2016, they performed the 'Inner Sanctum' tour, for four nights at the Royal Opera House in London.

The subsequent Super Tour started in October 2016.
